| Apparent contradictions abound in nature. Like summer, which occurs in the northern hemisphere when earth is furthest from the sun. Or pumice. It's a rock, but it floats on water. Likewise, Aikido is a path of peace AND it includes weapons training. Think of this as a Zen Koan that must be understood experientially. The practice of Aikido develops not only physical flexibility in its practitioners, but also a mental subtleness which ideally transcends even the very concept of contraction itself. |
