| It could be hypothyroid. Except that hypothyroidism doesn't happen in cats (just like hyperthyroidism is rare in dogs). Pretty much the only way a cat can become hypothyroid is to have a radical thyroidectomy to treat its hyperthyroidism. But if that happens, it is very easily treated with synthetic T4 so... I expect that this cat is just fat. :-) |

| Yes it probably is just fat. But hypothyroid does occur in cats, although rare. T4 supplement isn't always effective and owner compliance isn't always great, esp when it comes to medicating cats. |

| So sad. My parent's cat is the runner up, she's not far behind. Only 4 years old and can't jump up on the table anymore. I've bugged them about feeding the cat properly and at least she doesn't get whipped cream and sugary treats anymore, but she's still only slightly behind this one. The cat is not the problem, any cat will get that fat if fed whipped cream and sugar! |
