A voice pure and good, they are all almost gone now. I would go back and do it all over again, the good far outweighed the bad, such great memories from the 50s & 60s. There will never be a place in time again like those days!

I'm a younger guy, but I recognize how much better this song is compared to today's music. This song is very well-written. A catchy melody, good instrumentation and performances, emotionally expressive without sounding ridiculous - a good example of great songwriting combined with a skilled performance. It's a shame that this type of music is only available on obscure AM radio stations these days.

Gene Pitney said, a few years ago, that today's songs sound like they are half-written, and not enough time was spent on them. I agree. They just don't polish songs anymore, which is why most of them are forgettable, and get by more on image and technical tricks than actual music. In pop music today, they throw out a manufactured "cool" or "sexy" singer, add a bunch of robotic effects, repeat simplistic lyrics over and over, and publicize it until people think it's good.

my dad was a teddy boy back in the 50`s and was well into his doo-wop and harmony - style songs of the era , his love of this style of music filtered down to me , with my taste in music , from the 50`s through to classic motown, stax , northern soul, and the irish showband era.
i first heard this song as a five year old on one of his old "8 TRACK " tapes back in the mid 70`s and over 30 years later , here it is again,,, shivers.

But its too good of a tune to be ruined.

Thats my grandpa! This was my favorite song of his, and as far as I remember, he liked it a lot too. He taught it to me. I remember he let me say the part "dinky-doo, dinky-doo, dinky-doo, like a day-ay" and the chorus (the humming and whatnot) and he'd sing the song and I remember it sounded so awesome. I remember serenading my first girlfriend with this song. He was a funny man, even when he was close to his death. Funny how you stumble upon things that just make your day that much brighter.

I am 33 years old and a huge Rockabilly and Doowop fan. I first heard this song back in December of 1993 on the overnight oldies show on 840 WHAS in Louisville, KY. I am saddened to hear of his passing. His record, "How The Time Flies," always makes my day when I hear it. What makes that early morning of December 15th 1993 even more special to me is that I had just restored a 57 Chevrolet BelAir 4-Door and was driving it to work that early morning when the song played on it's original AM radio.
