I am a big fan of the original so I thought I'd give this a look. Think they did a pretty good job tbh despite all the people slagging it - could have been a bit more imaginative though and changed it a bit, basically just chris isaak plus distortion minus emotion.

The cover is good, but could be better. They took away the original riff and just left the chords, sounds good but I miss the clean guitar riff

I agree and disagree, unlike other covers of wicked game HIM didn't stick to the same acoustic formula. So in a sense it is very imaginative and was changed a lot. You know you did a good cover when other bands are covering your cover

Any band that covers covers of covers.....shouldn't play for money or expect it. I enjoy covers as long as I feel the band has put a new twist on it in comparison to the rest of their catalog, but I don't see that here. To cover this version shows admiration for the band, but not skill or originality. *now i hide in fear in the shadow of almighty hims fans. O_o

it's quite ignorant to compare a cover with the bands other orginal material. If you don't like the cover fine.
But you shouldn't dislike it because they didn't stick to the orginal formula! of making it just like Chris Issac version, thats easy. I imagine it was difficult to stick to the same orginal melody with heavy guitar,piano and drums. I mean show me another guitar driven version of wicked game becua
se I haven't heard it.
