yes and no. it's important to be a strong swimmer, because if you're not, I doubt you'll even make the cut. but again, if you work hard and train every day, maybe you'll learn the skills you need.
remember, the SEALs are an elite squad of the NAVY, so obviously you're gonna spend some time in the water.

this stroke is very useful in preserving energy, i had to use breast stroke for my first test because i didnt know the sidetroke. but after learning it i scored better in all the exercises including the swim

hey i'm going swcc and i killed the swim my pst scores were for my last one: 8:50 swim 64 pushups 94 situps 12 pullups 9:12 run i suck mainly at pushups because i'm pretty skinny (5'10 140) but i'm working hard at it to get better. my first pst i only did 37 pushups lol. don't leave till june 25th for swcc!!! can't wait!

Hey brains, firstly, since we're talking about the SEALs, an American unit, it's two miles, not two kilometers, get it right. Secondly, for the PST you have to swim five hundred meters, not two kilometers. Thirdly, no since you said "ask anyone here" you don't have to swim two kilometers to be a SEAL. Eventually in BUD/s, yes, but prior, no. Get it right.

It is energy effecient, and is alot quieter than the other stroke's. Other strokes , except for the breaststroke, are loud. Again it is for energy and distance.

you are able to swim while holding a body with this stroke. and if done right it makes little to no splashes...splashes attract sharks.

Hooyah324 dont be stuck up. You're just as wrong as the other guy. Not kilometers, miles. That one you're right. You said SEALs gotta swim 500 meters. Wrong. It's Yards. Trust me, I would know seeing as I recently passed my PST and am a designated SEAL.

Ok, fuckhole. Keep being ignorant. I have nothing i have to prove to you. Keep this in the mind though. 220 guys going into 274 in pre BUD/s at NSTC. Out of that, only 150 actually made it to BUD/s. Out of that, 35 graduated Hell week, with 6 post hell week drops, theres a lot of guys out there that have made it a hell of a lot farther than chances are you ever will. Especially since youre trying to brag about being a recruit on the internet. You have an SO contract? You andabout 5000 other kids

The scissor kick they describe in the video is awkward. I'm familiar with flutter, dolphin, and breaststroke kick, but I don't think I understand this one. I tried it in the pool and the 'cocking' of the scissor kick killed all my forward momentum. It looks like a flutter kick (designed for max reps) with a breaststroke windup (designed for max power). Can someone try to explain it to me?
