There will never ... ( 1 year ago by shelaghmckenna)
There will never again be such a partnership! But I don't have the impression that they came from the same school. They were as different as two people could be. And with that amazing contrast, to see them come together in a meeting of souls -there's nothing like it.

I wish so much to have been able to seen them when they were still around.. i really would like to understand how people felt seeing them in a live performance - i think this is the reason i lack that sort of love and understanding for them.. i really would like to understand how people feel about this magical partnership, its just now when you see these roles being danced they seemed to have taken it to a differnt level yet no one can replace them, could someone please help me understand =)

They didn't - Nureyev was the Maryinsky and Fonteyn the Royal. Which makes it all the more incredible that they paired off so brilliantly having had such difference style and esthetics.
Fracci and Bruhn ... ( 5 months ago by Andante735)
Fracci and Bruhn were Giselle and Albrecht personified. There's not matching them to this day.

They got 45 curtain ... ( 1 month ago by raymonda100)
They got 45 curtain calls at the Met after the premier of Romeo & Juliet. I was there and will never forget it. I remember their performances (though over 40+ years ago) better then performances I saw last year. Their magic does not come across on film. You have to have seen them live. They projected a passion and intensity and charisma that was palpable.
Their relationship ... ( 1 month ago by raymonda100)
Their relationship on stage was sublime and they projected their love and connection to the last row of the balcony. They were both great actors. However, their magic does not come across in film. Rudolf always had charisma, no matter who he danced with. But with Margot, it was a meeting of artistic souls that occurs once in a thousand years (or more!) I saw them in Giselle and Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake in the the early 60's and the memory is as vivid today as it was back then.
