in the simplest terms, chimps and us share a common ancestor. of course, ultimately, all living things share a common ancestor. humans are chimps branched away from the common ancestor approx. 4 million years ago. we share approx.95% dna. closer the split- closer the relation. quaggas branched f
rom plains zebras 200,000 years ago. quaggas are virtually the same as their zebra brethren. they are still the same species. we are apes. chimps are apes. we BOTH descended from an ape.
