Hi, I think it's great that you clearly understand the finer points of music. I unfortunately don't, can't even read a single note, but I thought beautiful music was there to be appriciated by everyone, not just the people who understand the minute details. It just sounds a little patronising, sorry :)

Nice job! I just was wondering why you were subdividing the dotted triplet rhythm in the middle section. I feel it has to move forward and subdividing makes it slow down.

Vaughan Williams - fantastic. Just listen to the harmonies and the underlying melodies. Mellow yet sonorous. Beautiful stuff.

I don't know how this performance will rate, since it just started, but I have to say this piece moves me beyond any other. It is the most beautiful music I've ever heard, and I LOVE a lot of songs. Words fail to express my love for this one. Thank you, Tallis and Vaughan Williams, for the auditory thrill of my life.

Oh wow, are they playing this piece for Maryland All-State this year? I played in that group when I was in high school, a few years ago. Man, I wish we had the chance to play this piece! So gorgeous. If the concert's nearby, I'll go watch you guys! :D
I'm not sure if I prefer Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus (which wears its heart more on sleeve, so to speak), or this piece. Does anyone know the name of this orchestra?

George Steel, the new Director of The Dallas Opera composed a Mass based on this Tallis theme some years ago. It is a deeply spiritual work and never failed to move me in the times that I heard it.
