The truth: It's a messy situation with one of two outcomes. 1. We withdraw our troops and let the cards fall where ever they may, concerning the Iraqi government. 2. We stay and make sure the government is stable before leaving. I prefer option two but that requires a renewed commitment from America and I don't know if she has that. But with the Dems you're only going to get option one. And option one is sloppy.

Obama can't even formulate his question, the General has to do it for him. The Ambassador graciously overlooks Obama's confusion calling Iran Iraq. The ambassador had to teach Obama the basics of civil diplomatic relations between neighboring countries. And finally Obama posed a hypothetical question about the "status quo" which entirely depends on a strong US presence. The Obama-Democratic platform leads to destabilization of the region and meltdown less affordable than the status quo.

Yes, of course we all make mistakes, but "the best pol. orator" was certainly fumbling here. The contrast between his eloquent speeches and this hearing is astounding. A great orator does not necessarily a great politician make. I agree Iraq was a mistake, but it was an intelligence fiasco that got us in and political bickering and cowardice, not military problems, that McCain has turned around. Once we were in, we had a responsibility to leave the country more stable and free than we found it.
