| ~_~ It actually has a deeper story than that. Each persona is built on throughout the series, and that what makes it so great. The boxing is just another way to develop the characters. The name of the anime is. "The First Step," for a reason other than wordplay. I recommend you watch it. Especially since the developers have decided to start a new season for it. |

| the history is not about some guys punching each other!!, looks like you saw it very superficially, the series has a lot of motivational messages, among them we can see how ippo is just a weak person with low self-esteem, and no dreams (like most of the real people) but he finds his motivation to begin his journey in the search of become a stronger and better person. And if a normal person like ippo can become so awesome, we all can do it! at least watch just an entire episode with an open mind |

Maybe some of them don't have as strong personalities as some other fictional characters, but Ippo really takes character development to a whole other level. He is more demented than Mashiba(He is psychotic and loves hurting people) and is an expert counter puncher(even more talented than Miyata. Not only that but he causes Ippo to get pissed! His name is Ryuuhei Sawamaru. He looks like the devil lol. Not kidding. |

| I think the manga operators seems to get lost with their story lines considering that in the real world of boxing, Manny Pacquiao has gone beyond what Ippo is immortalizing in this manga. Perhaps, it is now time for these creators to set a new dimension to the life of Ippo and that is to let him go to the next division with different weight class story. I guess the story of Manny pacquiao is far more interesting than Ippo. And the good thing, it is still written! |

| It's not traditional, Manny is but one of a very small group of people that have changed classes, Ippo isn't amazingly tall or big so to even change classes would go against the standards the creators set for him, I have to agree with uncreative76, he's probably just do World or go to another location |
