Live View isn't uselss if you have an application for it - see my Canon 40D astrophotography video - the same technique works on all the Canon models with LV.

hey cameralbs, can i ask you something. i am wondering which camera to get to take sports photos (basketball mainly). I am considering between 450D and D90 (with video mode).
With your knowledge in cameras, please help me out =)It would be nice if you can tell me exactly how it is better =)

Don't forget they're all as easy to use as each other when set to auto, and I also have some tutorials at my website dslrtips . com
Canon doesn't use ... ( 1 week ago by cameralabs)
Canon doesn't use the shutter half-press to AF in Live View. It will only AF in Live Vire, regardless of the mode, when you press the Star button in the top right corner. There's a full guide in the manual.

Well, they're quite differetn cameras in style and features, but I've compared them in the verdict page of my Nikon D90 review at cameralabs . com... the D90 is more expensive, but its faster 4.5fps may be more useful to you...

Kudos! I am looking at buying my first dSLR and came across your videos. You do a great job at reviewing the budget dSLR's for what they are and not for what they aren't. I figure you may roll your eyes at this kind of question but do you think someone like myself would be better off with the XSi or saving the extra cash and just picking up the XS? I am going to be buying one or the other and I just dont know if I would be missing out or buying more than I would need or use.
Nevermind, I should ... ( 5 days ago by SidIcarus)
Nevermind, I should have read the other comments first. It seems as if you have already answered my exact question several times over... But still, if you care to take a stab at it, go right ahead.

Hey, no worries! It depends if you want or need the extra features of the 450D / XSi. I've compared them both in the verdict page of my 1000D / XS review at cameralabs . com...

how do i get 3.5 frames shooting on 450d, i only get 2.5 frames, is my camera knackered, i have tried continuas shooting but it does not work propley
Maybe your shutter ... ( 4 days ago by cameralabs)
Maybe your shutter speed wasn't fast enough - should be over 1/250 to maintain the fastest rate - or maybe you were autofocusing between frames. Maybe you were applying additional processing in-camera or shooting at a very high ISO. There's lots of things which can slow it down. 3.5fps is a theoretical maximum under best conditions.

i am actually quite impressed with this camera, and i am a nikon buff. but i do not think it is good enough to make me sell my D300 and D2h and thousands of dollars in lenses to switch to the dark side ;] ***Question to CameraLabs; on the Canon 40D and the new 50D, does it come with the same camera control from a PC software? thanks-
Well they're doing ... ( 3 days ago by cameralabs)
Well they're doing a good job if you'd want to sell your pro nikon gear for a budget model in their range! Yep, the remote software is the same across all current Canon DSLRs.

Could be a variety ... ( 2 days ago by cameralabs)
Could be a variety of things. Make sure the card has plenty of room on it. Make sure AF is set to single or even manual focus. Make sure highlight tone priority is disabled. Make sure the ISO is not too big. Make sure the quality is JPEG only, not RAW.
