No, but maybe you shoulid live your life more conscious of the fact that you live well because others live poorly. Maybe start buying local/sweatshop free or used merchandise. You could always stop buying altogether. It's quite the jump, but it's worth it considering all things are impermanent.

Hello everyone...I am from Slovakia and we have a lot of, I say...oh god fuckin a lot of chinese shops with cheap goods...and people are forced to buy their clothes and shoes in these shops because they earn very few money...I think this is difficult situation and also that it is the problem of the world economy...but thx MTV for having a concern for these things, it is a great thing to do and of course, thx to Radiohead :) I definetely will support you in this thing.

mtv belongs to the ... ( 4 days ago by neuronox)
mtv belongs to the same group of people that makes weapons, owns petrol companies, owns the FED, abbusses us all, mainly examples like the given here. this video, being sponsored by mtv, means cynism at the biggest level. is the radiohead position real or just a political correct way of being for the masses?
its a good video, ... ( 3 days ago by danithomas835)
its a good video, and a great song - the two compliment each other beautifully and I respect Thom Yorke for speaking out about these issues, He stops short though, by not mentioning the root cause of this dreadful exploitation; A global economic system that values profit over human life - capitalism. x
anarchistic ... ( 3 days ago by danithomas835)
anarchistic argument. the system needs to be consciously and globally superseded - not opposed on the level of the individual.
My problem with ... ( 3 days ago by Dilutedled)
My problem with that is, where does this global consciousness arise from? Does it not being with individual morality and action? Don't tell me that a saviour/Obama figure can convince the world to just grow a morality and become aware of how unjust the global village really is?
It can only arise ... ( 2 days ago by danithomas835)
It can only arise from one place, the self organisation of the working class, independent of the state. Unless the working class (and by that I mean everyone dependent on the wage fund. ie. everyone i know) can start to orgainize as a class and challenge the status quo, global capitalism, under US hegemony will always offset it's financial crisis with cheap labour/super-exploitation abroad: People working for a pittance. Obama's a puppet, I have no illusions in him whatsoever.
yes, personal ... ( 2 days ago by danithomas835)
yes, personal responsibility, absolutely. but I think the responsibility is to raise political awareness, not to refrain from buying certain shit. Its just my opinion, but I'm not personally going to boycott nike, mcdonalds or anything else because I believe the change needed is far more fundamental and radical than that. We have to fight for extreme, radical democracy in all spheres of life (ie socialism)- and in the meantime I might need some trainers, and a Mcmuffin.all the best to you matex
