Japanese citizens were so afraid of baby-eating Americans that they would jump off cliffs rather than surrender. Americans back home cheered every time they saw a Japanese soldier killed on a newsreel. Unfortunately, although there was a procedure during the war for dehumanizing the enemy, there was no procedure after the war for making them human again. |
