The camera rummages through artifacts buried in a chemical wasteland known as the Zone in the film, Stalker.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/ *The very first shot is of chemical toxins ravaging the air and water. This apparently had a fatal effect on some members of the filming crew. *The voiceover is a quote taken from the Bible. (Revelations 6:12-17)

Anyway, "Stalker" is a true story, I say. A story depicting our intenral chalenge of heavens vs. earthly matters, of spiritualities vs. natural sciences, of emotional values vs. intellectual ones, etc. To me, it's also a combination of skepticism that we find in "Solaris", and metaphysical attitu
des of "Nostalgia."

It's really an awesome scene. It's hard to believe that white "stuff" at the beginning was actually poisonous gas emitting from a nearby hydro-electric plant.

This film symbolizes the social, spiritual, and intellectual world as it is subsumed into a hyper-capitlizaed mega-churchized strip-malled wasteland. And the guy laying on the ground is so shocked by how bland and soulless it all is that he's just wondering whats up, you know, its like, poignant
