James re-recorded that song in a faster-tempoed, horn-heavy rendition in 1971 as "That's Why I Love You Like I Do" (the original slower-tempoed song featured an electric guitar solo); the newly recorded, re-titled version was released as a single and reached No. 1 in June 1972. TAB HUNTER The recor

I have never heard Tab Hunter's version of "Young Love" but he's like many movie stars who want to try their hand at something besides acting (just like Clint Eastwood who is definitely not a singer but I love his acting). This song by Sonny had to have been a huge hit when it came out - especially with young people who maybe were in love for the first time. Thank you for this wonderful classic. -Paula

On January 26, 1957, "Singing the Blues", by Guy Mitchell was riding atop the charts. In second place, was Sonny James' "Young Love". The next week, it was the same; except Tab Hunter's was right behind at #3.
TH's version took over from "Too Much", on March 2, 1957, as the new #1. (BILLBOARD).

At the risk of repeating myself, this was also one of the first songs I fell in love with as a young teen. I thought then--and still do--it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, especially Sonny's version. His voice fits it to a tee.
