I don't argue code as that is the game legal thieves play: that is to point to legalism and supporting case law that makes the unimaginable legal as if lawful. There is a great USSC opinion which agreed and confirmed that people are "not subject to law" that harms them. It is not more true or true because men in black robes said so. It is true because it is self-evident. I'll follow with a quote.
Yick Wo v Hopkins ... ( 2 weeks ago by ifreemantoo3)
Yick Wo v Hopkins 118 US 356 1886 "Sovereignty itself is, of course, not subject to law, for it is the author and source of law; but in our system, while sovereign powers are delegated to the agencies of government, sovereignty itself remains with the people, by whom and for whom all government exists and acts. And the law is the definition and limitation of power." Sovereignty here simply means people and they are the reason for law. The law was make for people and not people for the law.

To the extent that ... ( 2 weeks ago by RetSquid)
To the extent that income taxes are said to be "voluntary," however, they are only voluntary in that one files the returns and pays the taxes without the IRS first telling each individual the amount due and then forcing payment of that amount. The ***payment of income taxes is not optional***, however, see, e.g., Wilcox v. Commissioner, 848 F.2d 1007, 1008 (9th Cir. 1988); Newman v. Schiff, 778 F.2d 460, 467 (8th Cir. 1985)

After mulling the last sentence over again I have to say that squirted would probably feel just fine about taking from you to give to those he doesn't wish to be charitable too. Many of the elites in showbiz are that way. The lobby, lobby, lobby to take money from some to give to a few.

[only voluntary in that one files the returns and pays the taxes without the IRS first telling] That is not voluntary, it isn't even close to being voluntary, it isn't even on the same planet as the word voluntary. That is 'Mandatory'. If you have to file forms and pay the tax. It is mandatory. Voluntary should not even be viewed in the same paragraph except to say it is _not_ voluntary. If something is voluntary, there is no punishment for not doing it.

The court case in question is only trying to reason out why the IRS papers 'have' to say that the income tax is voluntary in a context that they don't get egg on their face.
"The announcement ... ( 2 weeks ago by eklypse0)
"The announcement follows the controversy surrounding a September 8 Army Times report (revised on September 30), which revealed that the 3rd Infantry Divisions 1st Brigade Combat Team, fresh from combat duties in Iraq, would be operating inside America for tasks including civil unrest and crowd control, a detail that was later denied by Northcom despite the concession that forces would be armed with both non-lethal and lethal weapons as well as having access to tanks."

It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.

But did you know that the military went from door to door in New Orleans during Katrina and forcefully, including cuffing the lawful citizens, took everyone's firearms? The government removed the ability for people who were prepared for the flooding to protect themselves from looters.

The military has all been used in training missions to prepare for martial law techniques. They have gone to a few towns, fully armed, set up road blocks, did unlawful searches of resident's vehicles, and did the 'papers can I see your papers' thing.

I watched some.
Did you notice the 'locals' didn't complain about the training? Were they included in the plan? Anytime the Military gets involved with law enforcement, command is actually transferred to civilian authority. When the Navy stops possible drug runners the Coast Guard is actually in command of
the ship. The ship basically goes from being 'United States Ship' to being 'United States Coast Guard Cutter' and the Coast Guard officer on board takes Command.

[That was the Police and National Guard under the command of the Governor, not the Active Duty forces] I'm sorry, but it doesn't discount the part where the government decided, unilaterally, that they could, and did, subject lawful citizens to search and seizure of their lawfully owned firearms based on a 'state of emergency'. Are you ready for a national state of emergency, when the armed forces and national guards of America is ordered to disarm the population?
[...notice the ' ... ( 2 weeks ago by eklypse0)
[...notice the 'locals' didn't complain about the training?] What would you do if a company of armed soldiers set up blockades and started walking your streets, telling everyone they had to be indoors by nine? Well I KNOW what you would do! You wouldn't question it. You would stay in your safe home. If you had any firearms when they went door to door, requiring you to give them up, you would do so. Because it must be legal for them to do all of the above, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it!
