Pink Industry - What I Wouldn't Give

Uploaded by: secondhanddaylight
Video Description:
Pink Industry was a duo of former leader/vocalist Jayne Casey and bassist/keyboardist Ambrose Reynolds. Casey and Ambrose's group combined the "anything goes" spirit of post-punk with further use of experimental electronics.

1983's "Who Told You, You Were Naked?" - one of the greatest albums of all times. The closing track "Time For Change" still sends chills down my spine every time I hear it. Awesome project.

Changed my oulook on music this band did in the early 80's. Played the album to death, think my bro's got sick of hearing but still means a lot to me this track. Love it.

Last I heard, Jayne was an arts administrator in Liverpool having lost her singing voice following throat surgery. I think she had become bored with the music biz by then (mid 90's). She was a true punk and I think the searing honesty is one of the things that makes the songs so achingly beautiful. They are set in those wonderfully dark baselines that make them shine even brighter. I think Ambrose went into performance / conceptual art but I'm not sure. Hope they are both fulfilled now.

Understand that I too am indeed a fan - but even so, the term "singing" voice is stretching things an eensy bit, methinks.
If you heard the ... ( 7 months ago by Frege100)
If you heard the track she recorded after the operation I think you would notice the difference. Also, she is not trying to sing "Ave Maria". There are songs that stretch her voice more, like "Two cultures" and "Stand Alone".
Jayne was in the news recently. She was being sued by her business partner over some money he invested in a Liverpool arts project. All seems a bit odd because I think Jayne must have earned a few bob from her involvement in "Cream". She is now trying to buy him out.

Confiram também as duas primeiras bandas de Jayne Casey: Big In Japan (com Holy Johnson do Frankie Goes To Hollywood e Budgie, um dos Banshees), de 1977, que fazia um punk-rock super estranho e o Pink Military.

A great record from the wonderful Jayne Casey who played her part in Liverpool's punk and new wave scene and later became one of the co-founders of the Cream nightclub. "Don't Let Go" by Pink Industry is even better.
