Apple didn't invent the GUI. There have been made loads of GUI's, which Apples Lisa system was one of. The first GUI prototypes were already there in the 60's (Doug Engelbart) and the first real GUI was made by Xerox. Which Apple decided to changed up a bit and sold it like it was their idea. Apple introduced the trash can though.

yeah, they introduced a whole bunch of stuff too: pull down menues for example. They were actually invited to view the PARC system dude. and i feel sorry for them because the team was great, and they could have pawned the industry, but the execs were weirdos and very conservative. Thats why xerox is left with printers and paper lol

Damn that was one slow machine LOL! I have an Apple IIC with the 8" (or 6"?) GREEN screen monitor in a closet somewhere around here. I remember my father buying it brand spanking new and I thought it was so cool! I had access to a REAL computer! That was a very, very long time ago. : )

True, they invented the pull down menus as well. The problem with Xerox was, that they only wanted to develop the GUI for some experiments. Their market was somewhere else.
