The last arc involved Kenshin's brother-in-law, Yukishiro Enishi, seeking revenge on Kenshin for accidentally murdering his sister, whom Kenshin married 13 years prior to the start of the series. Since I don't want to spoil anything for those not wanting it, and since the story is too deep to explain here, go to Enishi's Wikipedia article for the full story.

...Except the ova isn't canon. Here's what really happens: Kenshin lives, but because he has been using Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu for so long, his body has deteriorated to the point that he can't use it anymore. 5 years after Enishi's defeat, Yahiko and Yutaro are the acting instructors of the Kamiya dojo. Kenshin passes the sakabato onto Yahiko so that Yahiko may surpass him one day. Kaoru, now Kenshin's wife, anticipates the futures of Kenshin, Yahiko, and their son Kenji. End.
