Ash never says "boy" to Pikachu..He never says any gender pronouns for his(or basically most) Pokemon,even when they're genders are confirmed..Though TR said "little guy"(or something "guy")at the end of this episode,they could just be using it without the gender meaning and just as casual talk(and that was just the english version,the orignal doesn't have that little line)
