So... the first guy gets knocked out twice, each time the ref makes the other guy walk away, lets the first guy get up. Later, the first guy gets a few punches in, but the other guy doesn't fall down, so the ref stops the fight? So the strategy in boxing when you're getting punched is to fall down, or else you lose?

If you notice at around 2:33 he was basically knocked out on his feet and his arms went limp. The ref can call the fight at that point for the safety of the fighter. It was obvious he was dazed and unable to defend himself.

Yes Diego Corrales died in 2007 in a motorcycle accident. He was on a 2007 GSX-R 1000 and hit a car head on and was killed. He had a blood Alcohol level of .25 3 times the legal limit for the state of Nevada where he was killed.

As stated, the reason the ref called the fight is because Castillo dropped his arms and was about to get hit in the face 2-3 times which could cause some serious damage and definitely would have knocked him out, or dare I say worse. The ref was 100% justified in calling this fight when he did, or else Castillo might have suffered some serious injuries.
