Evidence of what? ... ( 6 months ago by Skrankston)
Evidence of what? Kids look silly when they watch TV? It's what's going on inside that counts. People look blank when they're reading too. People pull funny faces when they're exercising and growing stronger. This film is pointless and Adbusters is clutching at straws.

- joegreenz (1 year ago) If the kids were watching something The Simpsons they'd be laughing and happy. This film uses propagandist techniques.'Evidence' of what precisely? That children will sit quietly when watching a television programme? Perhaps it is also evidence that adults will go all funny when a random piece of worthy music is assigned to a neutral peice of footage? - - Well you're watching a screen of someone watching a screen. It's easy to forget that you yourself are mirroring this.

I have never seen people reading making these faces. Or while exercising. When reading they appear to be concentrating/analyzing. when exercising- what do you know? exerting and/or straining. Notice neither of those were zombie, zoned out, or "not all there" faces.

HINT: Try watching the video with the music off. It is a lot easier read the kids' faces that way. Reggio does seem to be an anti-western technologist at heart.

its not really a ... ( 2 months ago by gburton)
its not really a paradox so much as a work that involves the participation and self involvement of the audience in meaning creation. the viewer who is aware of themselves and the activity by which they absorb and comprehend media and reality, will be able to make this conceptual leap and complete the meaning making process by analogy (them-kids). a work that can be successful in this regard is dope
